We drove up to Tampa to board the MS Veendam on Saturday, October 18th. We had two staterooms across from each other, and one of them had a verandah which was large enough to allow all four of us to relax outside with some privacy. On Sunday afternoon we passed within sight of the western coast of Cuba. On Monday morning, we arrived in Georgetown, Grand Cayman. While there, Cheryl and I went to the national museum, which contained historical exhibits. We left Grand Cayman that evening departing for Montego Bay, Jamaica, arriving there on Tuesday morning. The four of us took a very interesting tour of the city and surrounding area thanks to Donald, who was an excellent tour guide. That night we left Jamaica, and spent the next day at sea enroute to Cozumel, Mexico. We docked in Cozumel on Thursday morning. We all went ashore and hired a taxi driven by Juan, who took us to the San Gervasio Mayan ruins in the interior of the island. San Gervasio is beautiful, with dense foliage and a number of intact buildings from the Mayan era. I took pictures of some of them as well as a large iguana who looked like a dinosaur. On Thursday night we headed back out into the Gulf of Mexico to make our way back to Tampa, arriving on Saturday morning. From there, we drove back to South Florida. Below are some pictures taken during the cruise.
