On Sunday afternoon, October 6th, we left Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale) on the MS Maasdam arriving the next day (Monday) in Nassau, Bahamas. We were there just a few hours, saw some of Bay Street, and that was about it - (We had all been to Nassau previously, in May of 1960, when I was a senior in high school). For the next day and a half we were at sea, and arrived in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Wednesday morning. We had to wait quite a while to go through US Immigration, since we had been in the Bahamas. While we were in San Juan, where we remained until midnight, we found a taxi driver (Rafael) who gave us an excellent tour of Old San Juan. The next morning (Thursday) we were in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, and were there until about 4:30 pm. We took a brief taxi ride through the downtown and shopping area of Charlotte Amalie, the main city in St. Thomas. After that, it was back to sea for another day and a half until Saturday morning when we arrived in Half Moon Cay, a small island in the Bahamas owned by the Holland America Line. We were late since during this portion of the trip we investigated a floating object believed to be life raft. Of course, there was no one to rescue, but it cost us about an hour and a half. We rode the tender into Half Moon Cay, took a few pictures and returned to the ship. All of the next day and night we were back at sea until we arrived back in Ft. Lauderdale at about 7:30 Sunday morning. It was a great cruise; the food was unbelievable, and I think we all gained a few pounds. Here are some pictures:
